Tight End Tyler Davis Transfers To Georgia Tech

The 18th signee of this class comes on the second day of early signing period with Tyler Davis transferring to Georgia Tech.

The tight end is the 2nd transfer of this class and comes from Connecticut. For UCONN, Davis played in 35 games in his three years while starting 15 of them. In those 35 games, Davis recorded 47 receptions for 500 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Originally recruited as a pro-style quarterback, Davis switched to tight end during his redshirt year. Davis will be a graduate transfer and will have 1 year of eligibility. By all accounts, Tyler is a selfless player and is willing to do a lot of the dirty work.

Although Davis was the main redzone receiving threat with Connecticut, I think he takes a different role here. With Dylan Deveney, the other tight end signee, being taller, I think he will be the main target in the redzone with Davis taking a majority of the targets elsewhere.

Like Deveney, Davis showcases position versatility and strong hands. Something immediately evident in Davis’ film is his route running ability despite his size. Either way, the tight end position for 2019 seems to be set as well as all the early signees of the 2019 class!
